BAVS have three Charity Shops, one in Coldstream, Duns and Eyemouth. Each shop is staffed by a paid manager plus a friendly team of volunteers who man the shop on a rotational basis. A new rota is drawn up every month to ensure that volunteering with BAVS is flexible and fits in with the lifestyle of each individual volunteer. Without volunteers, our Charity Shops would not have been able to run so smoothly and successfully for the past 12 years. As such BAVS greatly appreciates whatever time and level of support its volunteers can offer.
Each shop stocks a large assortment of goods at realistic, affordable prices from the humble egg cup to designer clothes. Each shop is also an information point, displaying leaflets and posters about various local groups and events, along with advice about becoming a volunteer. Proceeds from the sale of goods are used to support charities and community groups throughout Berwickshire through the various BAVS projects such as; the Berwickshire Wheels service, BAVS Assist discretionary grant scheme, free support, advice, training workshops and information events.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life, with a wide range of experiences and skills. Each volunteer has their preference of which roles they would like to take on and each offer support for a varying number of hours.
