Eyemouth and District Foodbank

Covers: Eyemouth and the A1 corridor from Burnmouth to Cockburnspath

Description of the foodbank and additional useful information

The foodbank operates from Eyemouth Parish Church Hall and is run by volunteers. The foodbank has a separate portioned area at the back of the hall. It operates through a separate door and is only a delivery service.

There are two teams of volunteers the ‘Quartermasters’ team and the ‘Drivers’ team. Both teams work on a rota.

The Quartermasters are in charge of stacking the shelves, check use by dates and packing bags from our list, for one, two people or a family. The drivers have access to the referral Gmail, (all food parcels are made up after a referral), they phone the client using the Foodbank phone, donated by Eyemouth Rotary club to arrange a delivery time. They then phone them again when they have dropped the food parcel at the doorstep. The system has been designed to keep everyone as safe as possible.

People must be referred to get support from the foodbank. The Foodbank relies solely on referrals from social work, BHA, GPs, schools, CAB, Community Nurses, Addiction Services, Church Ministers and the Fisherman’s Mission. Food parcels are delivered to individuals and families by volunteers.
